Biodiversity Protection

Current Projects

The Sonoran Desert is an incredibly diverse ecosystem, home to a complex landscape that supports a wide variety species uniquely adapted to the environment. Unfortunately, rapid environmental change, such as urban stressors and climate change, are expected to continue to significantly alter our plant and animal communities. The Parsons Field Institute is committed to monitoring animal and plant populations long-term, assessing threats to biodiversity, identifying species of conservation concern, and implementing science-based adaptive management plans, with the goal of preserving biodiversity in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve and beyond.
