Lecture- Scottsdale: Mecca for The Arabian Horse at Mustang Library

The upcoming Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show has been a signature equestrian and tourism event since 1956. Now, the biggest Arabian show in the world, this event has been held at Westworld in Scottsdale for over 30 years. Hear how local breeders Ed Tweed, Anne and Fowler McCormick, and Helen Wrigley formed the event’s sponsoring association in 1955. The non-profit they formed, the Arabian Horse Show Association of Arizona (A.H.A.A.) is dedicated to preserving the Arabian horse through education, breeding, competitions, and ownership of Arabian horses. The association will hold their 69th annual all-Arabian horse show in February 2024. Janice McCrea-Wight, a long time breeder and board member, will talk abut the rich history of Arabians and how the Valley became the Arabian capital of the world.

Location: Scottsdale Mustang Library – 10101 N 90th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85258

Presenter: Janice McCrea-Wight
