Green Buildings at Scale: How Scottsdale Became One of the Top Five Cities in the Country to Adopt and Implement a Green Construction Code

Presenter: Anthony Floyd, FAIA

Location: Mustang Library: 10101 N 90th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85258

Established in 1998, Scottsdale’s Green Building Program was the first in the state and fifth in the nation to incentivize the construction of green buildings. In 2005, the city adopted the nation’s first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification policy for newly constructed city buildings. In 2023, Scottsdale became one of the top five cities to adopt the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) for all new commercial and multifamily building projects. This means new buildings are required to be more energy efficient, water conserving, and less impactful on the environment.

Please join Anthony Floyd, FAIA as he describes the story of Scottsdale’s Green Building Program and energy efficient city building codes at Scottsdale’s Mustang Library.
