In an article published by Scottsdale Progress, CEO, Justin Owen was interviewed about the role of the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy attracting tourists to Scottsdale.
“Because over 40 percent of Scottsdale’s tax revenue comes from nonresidents, the ability for Scottsdale to have a thriving tourism enterprise has allowed the city to be able to preserve this much land. If it weren’t for sustainable tourism, the preserve wouldn’t be possible.”
Equally as important is the necessity to protect the land. The primary mission of the Conservancy is to teach people about the direct and indirect impact they have on the environment and promote stewardship.
