Arthropods of the Sonoran Desert Family Educational Hike at Gateway Trailhead  Scorpions, Spiders, Bees and Wasps are just the beginning – there are more species of Arthropods in the world than any other group of animals. Join Dr. Rich Cochran on this easy approximately 2 mile walk to discover the fascinating and diverse world of arthropods and their role in the ecology of the Sonoran Desert. This educational hike is intended for families with children ages 6 and up.  All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Families will learn many things they can do together on their next desert hike. Please be sure to wear appropriate footwear for a rocky trail, sun protection and bring plenty of water. This is a group experience and we kindly request that you do not bring dogs. There are restrooms at the trailhead. The hike will be limited to 20 people on a first come basis.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the event.  Come join this hike led by our seasoned and knowledgeable stewards!
