The Sonoran Desert is a haven for butterflies like Pipevines\, Sulphers and Skippers. The Sonoran Desert is home to over 250 species of butterflies and nearly 25% of these can be found in the Preserve.  The  Conservancy has documented 59 of these species in the Preserve during annual spring and fall butterfly counts. Join Dr. Rich Cochran on this easy approximately 2 mile walk to discover the fascinating and diverse world of arthropods and their role in the ecology of the Sonoran Desert. This educational hike is intended for families with children ages 6 and up.  All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Families will learn many things they can do together on their next desert hike. Please be sure to wear appropriate footwear for a rocky trail\, sun protection and bring plenty of water. This is a group experience and we kindly request that you do not bring dogs. There are restrooms at the trailhead. The hike will be limited to 20 people on a first come basis.  Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the event.  Come join this hike led by our seasoned and knowledgeable stewards!
