Storytelling through Museum and Archival Artifacts – an MSC PastFinder Event –
July 25 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Join the Arizona Historical Society (AHS) in an interactive discussion to learn how to define history, and what makes an object “historical” and explore the difference between displaying an historic artifact, and telling a good story through it.
AHS, like many museums, has collection vaults and archives full of interesting and priceless museum and archival artifacts. Each object represents a place and time in history.
But what is the value of these items if they aren’t shared?
And how does one share the story?
What are the challenges faced by museums to share these rich and wonderful stories of the past?
The participants will have an opportunity to try their hand at becoming a museum storyteller with sample artifacts.
Speakers: Tawn Downs and Susan Irwin
