Arthropods of the Sonoran Desert Family Educational Hike at Gateway Trailhead

Scorpions, spiders, bees, and wasps are just the beginning. There are more species of arthropods in the world than any other group of animals. Come and discover the fascinating and diverse world of arthropods and their role in the ecology of the Sonoran Desert. This educational hike is intended for families with children ages 6 and up. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families will learn many things they can do together on their next desert hike. Please be sure to wear appropriate footwear for a rocky trail, sun protection, and bring plenty of water.

This is a group experience and we kindly request that you do not bring dogs. Come join this hike led by our seasoned and knowledgeable stewards!

Location: Gateway Trailhead – 18333 N. Thompson Peak Pkwy. Scottsdale, AZ 85255

Skill level: Easy

Distance: ~2 miles

Time: ~2 hours

Bathrooms are available at the trailheads. Bring water and snacks for the trail. Arrive 15 minutes before start of hike.
